Enthusiastic reader response convinced Cagin and Tarbell - who had long careers in national journalism before moving to Telluride in 1990 - that the established local media were missing something important. The husband-and-wife team and a small committed staff published the first edition of The Telluride Watch, sponsored by a gratifying number of charter advertisers who agreed that Telluride needed a fresh voice, in January 1997. Today, The Telluride Watch is published every Friday, save two weeks in April, when we publish every other week, and 40 Tuesdays a year. The Watch also publishes a number of special supplements, including a summer and a winter Adventure Guide and Telluride Shelter, a twice-a-year home and design magazine.
