Ridgway Town Briefs
Christopher Pike
The Ridgway Town Council agreed on April 12 to consider annexation of 175 acres of land owned by the Weaver family.
The parcel abuts the town limits and the new Ridgway School to the north.
The first step in considering the annexation will involve a meeting to consider where the requested 18 lots on 36 acres of land would be located and what impacts on the riparian area that level of density could have.
The Weaver family is offering the town roughly 140 acres of open space, including the "missing" 600 feet of the Uncompahgre River Trail, which runs through the property, and a four-acre nature park, as a memorial to the late Dennis Weaver.
Public attendance at the council meeting was high and for the most part favorable to the proposal, with the only objections heard being from neighboring property owners in the Dallas Meadows subdivision, who raised concerns about potential increases of foot traffic and access.
