Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter to Speak at Service

MONTROSE — Funeral services for Montrose police Officer David Kinterknecht will open to the public and will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Lloyd McMillan Gymnasium at Montrose High.

Gov. Bill Ritter will speak, along with Montrose Police Chief Tom Chinn, Montrose Mayor Jose Abeyta and members of Kinterknecht’s family. A Montrose native, he is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Montrose police Cmdr. Gene Lillard said the service is being arranged by the police department in conjunction with Kinterknecht’s widow, Kathy Kinterknecht. Cmdr. Keith Caddy is the family’s liaison for the event.

“We are planning it with the family and on behalf of the family,” Lillard said.

Valley Lawn Funeral Home is handling arrangements, he said.

Graveside services will follow the service at Cedar Cemetery on East Miami Road, according to the city of Montrose Web site.

Donations to Kinterknecht’s family can be made to the David J. Kinterknecht Benefit Fund at Montrose Bank. Donations can be made in person at either bank location or mailed to 200 North Townsend Ave., Montrose CO 81401.
