MONTROSE – School officials closed Montrose High School Wednesday afternoon after a bomb threat written on a mirror of a bathroom was found just before 2 p.m.
Students were released from school at 2:10 p.m. Students who rode the bus to school were directed to the Lloyd McMillan Gym until bus pick-up. According to the school’s website, the dismissal has been orderly and without incident.
“Somebody had wrote down on a mirror in the boys bathroom that there was a bomb threat,” said Montrose Police Department Patrol Commander Gene Lillard. “There wasn’t anything more particular than that.”
Right now, Lillard said, officers are searching through the building and its exterior for anything suspicious.
“Right now we haven’t found anything of the sort,” Lillard said. The Grand Junction Police Department has been asked to be on stand-by, which, Lillard said is normal protocol for an incident like this.
School is expected to resume tomorrow as scheduled.
